Post-Secondary Education Students – Sagrado Corazón-Corazonistas School (Vitoria-Gasteiz)
A virtual encounter with youth involved in the Loiolaetxea Hospitality project was arranged by ALBOAN to share their personal experiences and knowledge on the issues of migration and refuge. On completion, the scholars have let us known about their views, which we will share in this series of three posts labeled “Virtual encounters”: learnings, discover what moves us and gratefulness.
The bulk of pupils feels that we must do something as long as we are social beings and also as individuals. Here we leave some ideas that arose.
What I would personally like to request is to be more mindful when we meet these people, hearing their stories and particularly giving them our support.
At least, assuring them they can count on our wholehearted support in full respect.
The need to learn and raise awareness was felt.
First of all, find out what is happening, so that when the time for action comes, we know what is at stake, and eventually, what we are bringing in.
Making everyone aware that more than immigrants, they are people; that is where we need to start. I am mentioning this because many individuals encourage society’s rejection against these people simply because they speak in a language other than our own or because they are coming from a country where there is a conflictive area.
I do think that all of us must be made aware and these people shall be a primary consideration. After all, they are much a part of our society. It seems to me essential that their reality and aims be known, to avoid any gossip or negative image that does not typify them at all.
We should begin by seeking to understand and learn about the true situation of immigrants living in our surroundings, that is why I liked this activity.
In my opinion, one thing we all could do for them is render more visible these kind of situations (far more frequent than most people think, as we live in a cocoon; besides, in spite of it regularly headlining the world news, they have not always been given the importance they deserve); perhaps, this way it might be possible that testimonials which only reach a small number of individuals, could be heard by many more people. The word of mouth method might be useful in shedding light on the misconception that society has on refugees.
What I intend to do is to break up the prejudiced attitudes instilled by society and try to be a living example for those around me. However, I doubt that this will be enough and maybe, it would be nice to volunteer or take some action and serve them directly.
Options to invest time in volunteering.
Volunteering that can help them learn Spanish, mathematics, whatever they could need or make their lives easier and comfortable.
I personally feel that I could do more. For instance, Escolapios gives us the opportunity to go to youth fieldwork and this way we do our bit for society.
Enabling economic support or material assistance.
As a member of a leisure team, I have always been involved in giving support to immigrants, and I help whenever I can in food collection campaigns or donations.
Feeding people or making a donation to a NGO.

Serie “Compartimos el encuentro virtual”: A qué nos mueve (2/3)
Alumnado de 1º Bachillerato – Colegio Sagrado Corazón-Corazonistas (Vitoria-Gasteiz).
Desde ALBOAN organizamos un encuentro virtual con jóvenes que participan en el proyecto de Hospitalidad de Loiolaetxea para que compartieran sus conocimientos sobre el tema de la migración y el refugio y sus experiencias personales. Después de este encuentro el alumnado nos ha hecho llegar sus valoraciones que compartiremos en esta serie de tres post “Compartimos el encuentro virtual”: aprendizajes, a qué nos mueve y agradecimientos.
Gran parte del alumnado considera que es necesario hacer algo como sociedad y también de forma individual. Os compartimos algunas de sus ideas.
Lo que pediría sería que fuéramos más considerados a la hora de conocer a esta gente, escuchar su historia y sobre todo ofrecerles nuestra ayuda.
Por lo menos mostrarles nuestro apoyo y tratarlos con respeto.
La necesidad de informase y sensibilizar.
Lo primero de todo es informarse de lo que está sucediendo para después al actuar saber lo que está sucediendo y lo que estás aportando.
Concienciarnos todos de que antes que inmigrantes son personas, habría que empezar por ahí. Digo esto porque mucha gente crea un rechazo social a estas personas simplemente por hablar otra lengua o venir de un país perteneciente a zonas conflictivas.
Creo que todos tendríamos que ser conscientes y tener a estas personas muy presentes. Al fin y al cabo forman parte de nuestra sociedad. Me parece muy importante que se conozca la realidad e intenciones de estas personas, para evitar bulos y una mala imagen, que no les define en absoluto.
Deberíamos empezar por intentar entender y conocer la verdadera situación de los inmigrantes en nuestro entorno, por eso me ha gustado esta actividad.
Creo que algo que podríamos hacer todos por ellos es visibilizar más estas situaciones (mucho más comunes de lo que piensa la mayoría de gente, pues vivimos en una burbuja y aunque es lo típico que escuchamos en las noticias, no le damos la importancia que merece), quizá de esa manera, testimonios que solo llegarían a un grupo reducido de personas, podrían llegar a muchas más. El boca-oreja puede ser muy útil a la hora de aportar luz a la idea que se tiene en la sociedad de los refugiados.
Lo que yo intento hacer es deshacer los prejuicios que se han impuesto por la sociedad e intentar que los de mi alrededor también lo hagan. Sin embargo, no creo que con eso sea suficiente y tal vez estaría bien hacer algún voluntariado o algo para poder ayudarlos directamente.
Posibilidad de hacer un voluntariado.
Hacer un voluntariado y ayudarles a aprender español, matemáticas o cualquier cosa que necesiten, o que les haga la vida un poquito más fácil.
Yo personalmente creo que podría hacer algo más. Por ejemplo en escolapios tenemos la oportunidad de acudir a campos de trabajo y aportar nuestro granito de arena a esta sociedad.
Ofrecer ayuda económica o material.
Yo estoy en un grupo de tiempo libre que siempre intenta ayudar a los inmigrantes, siempre que puedo ayudo, por ejemplo con la recogida de alimentos o donaciones.
Dando comida o donando a una ONG.

“Topaketa birtuala partekatuko dugu” seriea: Zertara mugiarazten gaituen (2/3)
Batxilergoko 1. mailako ikasleak – Sagrado Corazón-Corazonistas ikastetxea (Vitoria-Gasteiz).
Alboanek topaketa birtual bat antolatu zuen Loiolaetxeko Hospitalitate-proiektuan parte hartzen duten gazteekin, migrazioari eta babeslekuari buruzko ezagutzak eta esperientzia pertsonalak partekatzeko. Topaketa honen ondoren, ikasleek beren balorazioak helarazi dizkigute, eta “topaketa birtuala partekatzen dugu” izeneko hiru post hauetan partekatuko ditugu: ikaskuntzak, zertara mugitzen gaituen eta eskerrak.
Ikasle askok uste dute beharrezkoa dela gizarte gisa zerbait egitea, baita banaka ere. Haien ideietako batzuk partekatzen dizkizuegu.
Jende hori ezagutzeko, haren historia entzuteko eta, batez ere, gure laguntza eskaintzeko orduan kontuan hartzea eskatuko nuke.
Gutxienez gure babesa erakutsi eta errespetuz tratatu.
Informatzeko eta sentsibilizatzeko beharra.
Lehenik eta behin, zer gertatzen ari den jakin behar da, eta gero, zer gertatzen ari den eta zer ekartzen ari zaren jakin.
Denok kontzientziatu behar dugu batez ere pertsonak direla, hortik hasi beharko litzateke. Hori esaten dut jende askok gaitzespen soziala eragiten dielako pertsona horiei beste hizkuntza bat hitz egiteagatik edo eremu gatazkatsuetako herrialde batetik etortzeagatik.
Uste dut guztiok kontziente izan beharko genukeela eta pertsona horiek oso presente izan beharko genituzkeela. Azken finean, gure gizartearen parte dira. Oso garrantzitsua iruditzen zait pertsona horien errealitatea eta asmoak ezagutzea, builarik eta irudi txarrik ez izateko, ez baititu inola ere definitzen.
Hasteko, etorkinek gure inguruan bizi duten benetako egoera ulertzen eta ezagutzen saiatu beharko genuke, horregatik gustatu zait jarduera hau.
Nire ustez, horien alde denok egin genezakeen zerbait egoera horiek gehiago ikusaraztea da (jende gehienak uste duena baino askoz ere ohikoagoak dira, burbuila batean bizi baikara, eta albisteetan entzuten dugun tipikoa bada ere, ez diogu merezi duen garrantzia ematen); agian, modu horretan, pertsona talde txiki batengana baino iritsiko ez liratekeen lekukotasunak askoz gehiagorengana irits litezke. Aho-belarria oso erabilgarria izan daiteke errefuxiatuen gizartean dagoen ideiari argi emateko.
Nik egin nahi dudana da gizarteak ezarri dituen aurreiritziak desegin eta nire ingurukoek ere egin dezaten saiatu. Hala ere, ez dut uste horrekin nahikoa denik, eta agian ondo legoke boluntariotzaren bat edo zerbait egitea zuzenean lagundu ahal izateko.
Boluntariotza egiteko aukera.
Boluntariotza egin eta espainiera, matematika edo behar duten edozer ikasten lagundu, edo bizitza pixka bat errazagoa egiten lagundu.
Nik neuk uste dut zerbait gehiago egin nezakeela. Adibidez, eskolapioetan auzolandegietara joateko eta gizarte honi gure laguntza emateko aukera dugu.
Laguntza ekonomikoa edo materiala eskaini
Ni aisialdiko talde batean nago, eta beti saiatzen da etorkinei laguntzen, ahal dudan guztietan, elikagaiak biltzen edo dohaintzak egiten, adibidez.
Janaria ematen edo GKE bati dirua ematen.
