Coinciding with the International Day of Migrants, on December 18, we carried out an activity with young people from the Loiolaetxea Association aimed at reviewing and sharing their own migratory story.
Within the Change Environment project, the students meet people who have gone through different migratory processes. This activity is highlighted by the students as one of the activities with the greatest impact on their perception of migrants and refugees. But it is important to take care of the people who so generously share their experiences, especially when it is a difficult and painful story. The activity was prepared precisely with this double objective:
- To invite young migrants and refugees to participate as awareness agents in the framework of the Change Environment project.
- To take care that participation in Change Environment is coordinated with an accompaniment appropriate to their personal process and is beneficial for the young people who share their testimony.
In this way, the Change Environment experience is intended to be beneficial both for the students who listen to the stories and for those who tell them.
This activity was organized between Alboan, who coordinates the Change Environment project in the Basque Country, and the Ondoan and Loiolaetxea Association, in charge of accompanying the young refugees and migrants invited to the session.
