Together for CHANGE Final Event Brings Students, Educators, and Communities Together in Brussels

On 27 May 2026, students, teachers, civil society organisations, and community actors from across Europe gathered in Brussels for the final event of the Erasmus+ project Together for CHANGE: Empowering Youth, Schools and Communities for Inclusive Societies. Hosted at the MigratieMuseumMigration in Molenbeek, the half-day event marked the conclusion of a collaborative journey that brought together schools and organisations from Belgium, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Serbia, and Spain.

Organised by JRS Europe within the framework of the Erasmus+ Programme, the event created a space for encounter, reflection, and exchange around inclusion, active citizenship, and the role of education in challenging stereotypes and promoting social cohesion.

Throughout the morning, participants had the opportunity to discover the educational tools and methodologies developed during the project, including the six-stage curriculum designed to strengthen critical thinking, empathy, and students’ understanding of migration and inclusion. The event also highlighted the importance of participation and dialogue as key elements in building more welcoming and inclusive communities.

One of the central moments of the event was the presentation of students’ testimonies and solidarity actions carried out in participating schools across Europe. Students shared experiences, initiatives, and reflections developed together with teachers, migrants, and community actors during the implementation of the project. These actions demonstrated how education can move beyond the classroom and encourage young people to become active contributors within their local communities.

The event also featured a panel discussion which brought together different perspectives on inclusive education, youth participation, and active citizenship. The discussion reflected the long-term impact of the project and on the importance of continuing to create spaces where young people, educators, and migrant communities can learn from one another and work together.

Together for CHANGE aimed to support schools and communities in addressing stereotypes and misinformation around migration through education, participation, and direct encounters. Through educational activities, training opportunities, and solidarity actions, the project encouraged students to reflect critically, engage actively, and contribute to more inclusive societies.

The final event in Brussels represented both a celebration of the work achieved over the course of the project and an opportunity to continue building connections and initiatives beyond its conclusion.
