This is what two students of the Mancinelli and Falconi of Velletri schools in Rome who took part in the CHANGE project have to say about it:
“In class we researched various topics, such as refugee children and women. My classmates and I researched refugees in Italy and I found it very interesting and useful to understand the various reasons that push them to leave their country. Through their stories, we were able to imagine their pain, their suffering, their fear and even the courage it took to face these journeys, and above all, to share all of this. For me personally they have been very important in order to change my way of thinking on some matters and have taught me not to always listen to social media as they often publish fake news and incite hate, thus discrimination.
Because of this discrimination, it is also difficult for migrants and refugees to start living again, to find a job, a new home.
I just wonder how it’s possible to feel so much hate for people who have not done anything wrong, and who were only looking for better conditions to live in and a better future for them and their children”.
“My class has had the pleasure of participating in the CHANGE project, having the opportunity to hear in French the testimony of a refugee named C., from Congo. We showed him our project on art and immigration, based on information provided by Centro Astalli. It was a very beautiful and exciting experience that I would recommend to many people in order to open their minds, showing them the conditions in which immigrants have to live and what they have to suffer every day. We are all the same!”

LA NOSTRA ESPERIENZA CON “CHANGE”
Ecco le parole di due studenti del Liceo Mancinelli e Falconi di Velletri (Roma) che hanno preso parte al progetto CHANGE
“Con la mia classe 3C quest’anno, a gennaio, abbiamo fatto delle ricerche in gruppo su diverse tematiche, ad esempio bambini o donne rifugiate. Con i miei compagni abbiamo fatto in seguito delle ricerche più approfondire sui rifugiati in Italia e ho trovato molto interessante e utile indagare più a fondo i vari motivi che li spingono a abbandonare il loro paese. Abbiamo potuto immaginare attraverso vari racconti delle storie di alcuni rifugiati, il loro dolore, la loro sofferenza, la loro paura e anche io coraggio che hanno avuto nell’affrontare questi viaggi e soprattutto nel raccontarlo. Per me personalmente sono stati molti utili per riflettere e cambiare il mio pensiero su alcuni fattori e mi hanno insegnato a non dare sempre ascolto ai social media, perché quasi sempre raccontano il falso e incitano soltanto all’odio, aumentando così le discriminazioni.
A causa di queste discriminazioni poi risulta difficile anche ricominciare a vivere, trovare un lavoro, una nuova casa.
Mi chiedo solamente come sia possibile provare tanto odio per delle persone che alla fine non hanno fatto niente di male, e che cercavano solamente una condizione migliore in cui vivere e magari un futuro migliore per loro e per i propri figli”.
“Io insieme alla mia classe 4D abbiamo avuto il piacere di partecipare al progetto CHANGE e abbiamo avuto la possibilità di poter ascoltare in lingua francese la testimonianza di un ragazzo di nome C., proveniente dal Congo. Noi gli abbiamo esposto il nostro progetto sull’arte e l’immigrazione, basandoci anche sulle informazioni fornite dal Centro Astalli. È stata un’esperienza molto bella, emozionante che consiglierei a molte persone, per poter aprire le menti, mostrandogli le condizioni in cui gli immigrati devono vivere e cosa devono subire ogni giorno. Noi tutti siamo uguali!”
